Time Event Organiser Title & Description
1:15 - 4:15 PM Wikimedia Wikiediting Workshop
Trainers from Wikimedia UK will give an overview of Wikipedia editing and help attendees. We are particularly hoping to add more information on some of the women featured in Women from Hackney’s History Volumes 1 and 2, but participants will be able to focus on their areas of interest. Please bring a laptop with you if possible. We hope this will be the start of an ongoing project. Further guidance will be shared with people who register.
6:00 - 8:00 PM Pickwick Bicycle Club History Cycle - A bike tour of Hackney
The Pickwick Bicycle Club, founded in Hackney in 1870, is the world’s oldest cycling association. The ride will start outside its original base, on the northeast corner of Hackney Downs, before traversing the borough, with stops at Clapton Pond, Sutton House, St Augustine’s Tower, the Rio Cinema and other historic landmarks. Led by Anna Aslanyan, the tour will explore the eventful past of these places, look at their dynamic present and try to imagine their future. The route – a combination of cycle paths and local roads – is suitable for competent cyclists aged 12 and over. You need to bring a bike. It will end at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden 13 Dalston Lane, London E8 3DF
All proceeds will go to Pedro Youth Club's cycling projects with children in Hackney,
